Being able to only see what happens in the parish through the walls outside of the church gives off limited information and minor details of what truly happens within the parish. There is more to it than that and many people are misled to think a certain way about it. People are blinded by false information and can only see what is in front of them. Many people ask “What happens within the Parish?” To truly understand this question is to be an active and devout member of your Parish.

Why should I be an active member of my Parish and what are the benefits of it?
You should be an active member of your Parish because by doing so, the church allows you to meet new people of all ages, cultures, and perspectives. The church is a way to be able to communicate with others through a spiritual  and social way through prayers and conversation. You are able to be able to meet new people; those of which who you are connected to by Christ and most likely those who have similar interests and hobbies. Although you might be new to the Parish, the church will always welcome you with open arms and will help guide and nurture you throughout your Christian journey.

 

You should be an active member of the church because it allows you to become a better person and it will change your life forever. By being an active member of the church, you are exposed to many stories from bible scriptures from the Old and New Testament. Stories of which shows the sacrifice, nobility, perseverance, loyalty and faith of those people who risked their lives for sake of others. People can easily by changed and influenced by these stories and want to be able to become better people by wanting to be able to be like those heroic people in the scriptures.

 When in times of crisis, your Parish is there to support you when you have limited resources to cope and be able to take care of yourself. The Parish Priest is the one who will help guide as a spiritual mentor and the church and the members of it will be able to take care and help you through problems you are facing in life. When there is a death within the members of your family or friends the Parish will be able to nurture you from your grief by sending prayers to those who are no longer living. When a death has taken place the church will pray for them during mass during the week when the death took place at the time and will pray for them annually during the date where the death has occurred. It can help you when you are facing a divorce from your partner. Bad habits such as drinking alcohol and smoking can be stopped through educating people about it. If you suffer mental issues. If you are without food, water or have a lack of resources. The problems faced during different ages of life such as juvenile delinquency and aging can be helped through counseling.

 

As a member of the Parish, you are able to participate in events and charitable services which help the lives of others. You too can help those who are suffering crises in their lives and are in need of help. 

 

By being an active member of the church you will always have someone who will always be with you and will always talk to. God. The church is a way to communicate with God so you can ask for forgiveness or to give thanks. 

 

Being an active member of the church means that you and possibly your family attend masses. When your child is exposed to the scriptures in the bible, it helps them believe what is true and right. When growing up, children a role model; someone to look up to. The Parish priest or the people in the Parish can be a role model to them and is there to help these children through their growing stages in life and will help them mature and develop in these times.
